GLASS BLOWING DEMONSTRATION TOUR

Master Glass Blower Peter Greenwood welcomes groups for a unique tour of his
studio/gallery/ museum located inside the Historic Union Church (1829) in the charming
village of Riverton, Connecticut.
Bus tour groups, corporate events, birthdays, schools, special occasions,
week end getaways are all welcome.

Time: Tuesdays through Saturdays 11 to 12 PM.
Price: $25.00 per person. (10 person minimum)

The group will have the opportunity to view up close and around the bench the
fascinating process of making a large free form bowl.
While forming the shapes from the glowing gathers of molten glass,
Peter will share with his guests his 26 years of experience of working with hot
glass, and will explain the various steps and techniques involved.
The one hour tour will include a 25 minute demonstration.
The artist will speak about:

- The history of glass and ancient techniques
dating back over the period of 3500 years.

-The physical properties and science of glass.

- Explanation of the furnace operation and the various tools.

-The Church: museum display case in the lobby

NEW: WEEKEND GETAWAY IN RIVERTON

Weekend getaway glass blowing demonstration and lesson.
Spend a weekend in Riverton and experience first hand the fascinating ancient art of glass blowing.
The demonstration consists of the making of a large free form crackle glass bowl.

Afterwards each person will receive a 20 minute hands on lesson.
Time: Saturday Mornings 11:00

Guests will then browse the large second floor gallery with a new appreciation
for glass. The colorful stained glass windows in the gallery compliment
the display of custom hand blown art glass chandeliers, wall sculptures,
glass furniture, lighting and vessels.
Also exhibited in the gallery are the fine art paintings and jewelry by
Christine Chaise - Greenwood.

Peter's work has been shown in museums and galleries
throughout the United States, and is included in numerous
private collections worldwide, (Recently in the Louvre in Paris).
Peter has been the recipient of multiple awards for excellence in his craft.

TOUR OPTION 1: LUNCH AT SWEET PEAS RESTAURANT.

After the demonstration enjoy a fine lunch at Sweet Peas Restaurant
located in the charming 1880 Victorian Colonial home
(across the street from the studio).

TOUR OPTION 2: CULTURE AND HISTORY AT THE
BARKHAMSTED HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

Meeting place: The Church/Studio parking lot.
Duration of the tour: (1 to 3 1/2 hours).

For those who would like to continue the tour after lunch,
the Barkhamsted Historical Society will take the group on a guided tour
of the two museums and the Light House Community located just 4 miles
from
the studio, in Peoples State Forest Barkhamsted, CT
